Description

Rear View of an Iroquois Taipan UH1-B gunship of the 135th Assault Helicopter Company (135th AHC), United States Army, in flight. The aircraft has a six barrel M134 minigun fitted with 7 tube, 2.75 inch rocket launchers, FFAR (Folding Fin Aircraft Rocket) fitted to the port and starboard sides of the aircraft, and probably a 40mm chin-mounted grenade launcher ('Frog') in the front. The other combination of weapons used at times consists of the miniguns and two 17 tube rockets. Every gunship also has two door gunners with M60 machine guns. RAN Helicopter Flight Vietnam (RANHFV) is serving with the135th AHC. Due to its integrated nature, the unit is designated an ‘experimental military unit', with the nickname EMU. Throughout their service in Vietnam members of RANHFV provided tactical airlift and gunship support for Australian and allied ground forces.
