Studio portrait of 3498 Private (later Corporal (Cpl)) Leslie Somerville, 49th Battalion, of Mullumbimby, NSW. An 18 year old labourer prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 11th Reinforcements on HMAT Warilda (A69) on 5 October 1915. He died of wounds on 6 May 1918 and is buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.
