Nihongun shôhei shokun [To officers and men of the Japanese Army].
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to Melanesia and the Netherlands East Indies. An English translation of the text is attached. The leaflet features a drawing of Mt Fuji and a thank-you note supposedly sent from a Japanese prisoner of war to one of the Allied officers who looked after them in Finschhafen. The main text encourages Japanese soldiers to avoid useless deaths by surrendering now so that they can serve their country in the future.
