Rengôgun Parao, Harumahera ni jôriku [Allied Forces land in Palau Islands and Halmaheras].
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to Palau Island and Morotai. An English translation of the text is attached. The leaflet reports the successful landing of the Allied Forces on the Palau Islands and Morotai on 15 September 1944. It states that the capture of the Palau Islands has advanced the Allied Forces within 800km of the Philippines, while the landing on Morotai has resulted in placing the Allies to within about 420 km of the southern Philippines and the northern Celebes. The message emphasises that the Japanese garrisons in the South have become even more isolated as a result of these events.
