Description

A propaganda newspaper produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. The item is written in Japanese and was distributed to the Philippines, Biak and Brunei. An English translation of the text is attached. Major events covered by this issue are the operation on Leyte, the air raid on Tokyo on 24 November 1944, and the bombing of Japanese positions in Borneo and Brunei during November 1944. It also discusses the situation in Europe and China. The leaflet quotes a director of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries who admitted that Japan did not have the production capacity to meet the demand created by the war. There is Japanese domestic news such as the recent changes to the Labour Conscription Law and the restriction on gas consumption in the Tokyo area.
