Description

A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to Melanesia and the Netherlands East Indies. An English translation of the text is attached. The item contains two copies of the leaflet. The message emphasises that true loyalty demands that a Japanese solder preserve his life rather than die uselessly, so that he can contribute to the reconstruction of Japan after peace returns. The leaflet assures that Japanese POWs will be treated in accordance with international law on POWs. The English message on the back states that the bearer of the leaflet has ceased resistance and should be treated in accordance with international law.
