Description
Unidentified Australian army personnel sitting on top of a Landing Vehicle Tracked (A) 4, (LVT(A)4). This vehicle is fitted with an M8 motor carriage turret with a 75 mm close support weapon and steel racks at the rear for rockets. LVT(A)4s were used to provide fire support for the LVT4 during amphibious operations. The LVT(A)4 was built between 1944 and 1945 by the Food Machinery Corporation (FMC) with a total of 1,890 manufactured. A similar vehicle is parked in the hangar in the background.
