Studio portrait of Lieutenant Norman Henry Victor Powell, Royal Australian Engineers, of Geelong, Vic. An engineer in civilian life, he served with this unit for two and a half years prior to enlisting in the AIF, serving as 2952 Lance Sergeant with the 5th Field Company, Royal Australian Engineers. He embarked on HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 24 November 1915. Lance Sergeant Powell was killed in action on 25 July 1916 at Pozieres, aged 27 years.
