Studio portrait of 613 Private David Scott, 16th Battalion, of Boyanup, WA. A bridge carpenter prior to enlisting on 24 September 1914, he embarked from Melbourne, Vic, aboard HMAT Ceramic on 22 December 1914. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 28 April 1915, aged 25, and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial. On the back of the photograph is written ' Dear Jack, Just a line or two [to] let you know that we are leaving on Tuesday morning Will old chap as far as it lays in my power I shall do my duty & will return home if possible when the war is over. Well goodbye old chap. Your loving brother Dave'.
