Informal portrait of O23941 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Henry Luke Britton DFC. Flt Lt Britton, a member of the Citizens Air Force on full time duty, is serving as an air gunner with 1 Squadron based in Singapore where he flew 30 operational sorties against Communist Terrorists (CTs) targets in Malaya. During the Second World War, Flight Sergeant Britton flew 27 operational sorties with 460 Squadron as a rear gunner over German cities. On the night of 20 October 1943 his 25th mission over Leipzig was flown in the Lancaster "G for George", now on display at the Australian War Memorial. He was commissioned from the ranks and for his Bomber Command service awarded the DFC.
