1914-15 Star associated with the service of 707 Private E D Nicholson, 25 Battalion, AIF. Born in Brisbane in April 1895, Edwin Dudley Nicholson was working as a labourer and serving in the Militia (8th Infantry Regiment) when he enlisted in the AIF on 24 February 1915. He embarked aboard HMAT Aeneas with reinforcements to 25 Battalion at Brisbane on 29 June 1915. On 26 September 1915 on Gallipoli, 707 Private Nicholson suffered a accidental gunshot wound to his hand and was eventually repatriated to Australia medically unfit. He found work as a mechanic, but on 16 July 1917 Edwin Nicholson again enlisted in the AIF and for a second time left Australia; this time with the Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC) aboard HMAT Borda from Adelaide on 5 January 1918. In June 1918 18599 Driver Nicholson transfered to the Australian Mechanical Transort Servce (AMTS). He returned to Australia in October of that year.
