Studio portrait of 223 Private (later Corporal) Andrew Robert Anderson, 1st Battalion of Sydney, NSW. Son of Andrew Anderson and brother of Mary Charlotte Anderson of Mid Yell, Shetland, Scotland. An Able Bodied Seaman prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Afric (A19) on 18 October 1914. He was killed in action at Pozieres on 21 July 1916 in France, aged 33. He has no known grave, and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
