Studio portrait of 1310 Private Joseph Summers, 20th Battalion of Narrabri, NSW. Son of Joseph and Jane Summers. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Berrima (A35) on 25 June 1915. He was killed in action on 5 August 1916 in France, aged 39. He has no known grave, and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
