Studio portrait of 3125 Private Leo George Kennedy, 18th (later 3rd) Battalion of Darlinghurst, NSW. Son of John Joseph and Annie Kennedy. A motor bodybuilder prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suevic (A29) on 20 December 1915. He was killed in action on 17 August 1916 in France, aged 22. He has no known grave, and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
