Studio portrait of 2790 Private (later Lance-Corporal) Thomas Stanley Taylor, 17th Battalion of Artarmon, NSW. Son of William Ernest Stanley Taylor and Jane Taylor. A painter prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November 1915. He was killed in action on 26 July 1916 at Pozieres, France, aged 22. He was buried at Gordon Dump Cemetery, Sausage Valley, France, but that grave was lost. He is now remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
