Studio portrait of 3855 Pte Thomas Cecil Enoch Lewis, 19th Battalion, of Springwood, NSW, son of Thomas Cecil and Margaret Matilda Lewis; husband of Blanche Carroll Lewis. A bootmaker prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Runic (A54) on 20 January 1916. He was killed in action on 27 July 1916 at Pozieres, France, aged 26. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
