Studio portrait of 2649 Private George Alexander Grant 18th (later 3rd) Battalion of Naremburn, NSW. Son of George and Annie Grant. An art stationery salesman prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November 1915. He was killed in action on 22 July 1916 near Pozieres, France, aged 34. He was buried in the vicinity of Pozieres. Post war, his grave was not found and he is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
