Studio portrait of 3306 Private Reginald Philip Thompson, 19th (later 4th) Battalion, of Newtown, NSW. Son of Richard Rudd Thompson, and Elizabeth Thompson. A horseshoer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suevic (A29) on 20 December 1915. He was killed in action in France, on 19 August 1916, aged 22. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France.
