Description

Studio portrait of 3383 Private John Elias Larsen, 1st (later 1st Trench Mortar Battery) Battalion, of North Sydney, NSW. Son of Elias and Selina May Larsen. A painter prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 5 October 1915. He was wounded in action and died of wounds at Boulogne in France, on 2 September 1916, aged 27. He is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France.
