Studio portrait of 208 Private (later Corporal) Charles Edwin Dent, 19th Battalion, of Darlinghurst, NSW. Son of Louisa and the late Thomas Dent; husband of Margaret Dent. A coachman prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June 1915. He was killed in action on 30 July 1916 near Pozieres, France, aged 43. He is buried in the Gordon Dump Cemetery Ovillers-La Boiselle, France.
