Studio portrait of 652 Sergeant James Patrick O'Toole, 17th Battalion, of Newtown, NSW. Son of Son of James and Margaret O'Toole. A clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 12 May 1915. He was killed in action on 26 July 1916 near Pozieres, France, aged 21. He was buried in the vicinity of Pozieres but has no known grave. He is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
