Studio portrait of 1669 Private William Henry Harden, 55th (later 53rd) Battalion, of Narrandera, NSW. Son of William and Jane Harden. A painter prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 14 April 1916. He was killed in action at Fromelles, France on 19 July 1916, aged 23. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the VC Corner Australian Cemetery Memorial, Fromelles, France.
