Studio portrait of 1989 Private Samuel Thomas Dolan, 31st Battalion, of Leichhardt, NSW. Son of the late Samuel T and Mrs Kate Dolan. An upholsterer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ballarat (A70) on 18 February 1916. He died at No 8 Casualty Clearing Station, France on 22 July 1916 from wounds received in action, aged 22. He is buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
