Studio portrait of 2645A Private Ernest Reiman, 9th (later 49th) Battalion, of Cordalba, Qld. Son of Albert and Rose Reiman, twin brother of 3468 Driver Herbert Reiman and brother of Lt Albert E Reiman MM. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Kyarra (A55) on16 August 1916. He was killed in action in France on 5 April 1918, aged 23. Originally he was buried in Albert Road Cemetery, France which unfortunately was destroyed by enemy action in August 1918. Post war his remains were not found. He is commemorated in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
