Studio portrait of 3901 Private Robert Walton, 15th (later 47th) Battalion, of Maryborough, Qld. Son of John and Elizabeth Walton. An engine cleaner prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suffolk (A23) on 30 November 1915. He was wounded in action in France and died of wounds on 13 August 1916, in France aged 21 . He is buried in Warloy-Baillon Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
