Description

Studio portrait of 129 Private (later Sergeant) Harold David Collins, 21st Battalion, of Bairnsdale, Vic. Son of David and Caroline Collins. A metallurgist prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ulysses (A38) on 10 May 1915. He was killed in action at Pozieres, France, on 1 August 1916, aged 22. He is buried in the Serre Road Cemetery No 2 Entry near Beaumont, Hamel, France.
