Studio portrait of 3399 Private William James Murrin, 4th (later 13th) Battalion, of Marrickville, Sydney, NSW. Son of William James and Amelia Agnes Murrin. A railway porter prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Port Lincoln (A17) on 13 October 1915. He died of pneumonia on 28 October 1916 at the 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, In the Field, France, aged 19. He is buried in the Trois-Arbres Cemetery Steenwerck, west of Armentieres, France.
