Captain David Bergman (right) and Detective Doug Goroway (left), who received exposure to anthrax as a result of investigating a computer from CBS. One of a series of 19 images relating to the service of Captain Bergman (since promoted to the rank of Major), who was part of a group of five Australian Army Engineer officers seconded to the New York Police Department to assist with the anthrax attacks that occurred in November 2001 after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Each officer was deployed to the New York Police Department Hazardous HAMMER teams that operated across New York City.
