207732 Sergeant (Sgt) George Clarence Curle (left) and an unidentifed airman. Sgt Curle, a radio technician from Bankstown, NSW prior to enlisting on 19 March 1939, served with 3 Squadron RAAF. After qualifying as an air gunner he was mustered as a wireless/telegraph operator. Whilst serving in the Middle East, and attached to 55 Squadron RAF, he was accidentally shot and died on at the 15th Scottish Hospital Al-Aghouza, Egypt, aged 26. He was buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery.
