History / Summary

The Australian Government hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Forum (APEC) from December 2006 to September 2007. The primary focus was the APEC Economic Leader's Meeting held in Sydney in September 2007. APEC is the premier forum for facilitating economic growth and prosperity through the promotion of co-operation, trade and investment liberalisation in the Asia-Pacific region.

More than 1500 Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel from across the three services worked alongside the police as part of Operation Deluge. They performed a range of specialist roles including providing security support, such as vehicle and venue searches. This cap is an example of the type issued to members of Operation Deluge.
