Description
Studio portrait of Dutchman Mr J. Ettemsor? of Leeuwarden, given to Corporal James Skelly "in friendship" following his release from the Prisoner of War (POW) camp at Schneidemuhl, Germany. Following his release he was sent to Holland and then onto England before returning to Australia. One of a series of over 80 photographs from the collection of 3235 Corporal (Cpl) James Skelly, 55th Battalion, from Rockdale, NSW. Cpl Skelly was a self-described "special correspondent" for the Australian Red Cross while at Schneidemuhl and originally donated these photographs to the Ramsgate R.S.L. The original is stored in the AWM archive store.
