Grant, John Charles (Flight Sergeant, b.1922 - d.1944)
Collection relating to the Second World War service of 423100 Flight Sergeant John Charles Grant, Royal Australian Air Force, attached to 518 Squadron of the Royal Air Force, Scotland, 1944.
Collection consists of one airgraph letter and envelope from Flight Sergeant Grant to his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Doreen, dated 1 July 1944. In his letter, Grant mentions gratefully receiving their letter to him, not having seen their mutual friend Jack, hoping for leave soon, receiving an airgraph letter from their mother containing good news, continuing at the Royal Air Force base at Tiree in the Inner Hebrides, and hoping not to be at the base for another winter.
Flight Sergeant John Charles Grant died as the result of an accident on 3 July 1944.
