Studio portrait of 1867 Private (Pte) Percy David Alcorn, 42nd Battalion. Alcorn was a carpenter near Ipswich, Queensland, and had previously served with the Light Horse before he enlisted with the Australian Infantry on Christmas Eve 1915. He embarked from Brisbane, with the 3rd Reinforcements to the 42nd, on board HMAT Clan Macgillivray (A46) on 1 May 1916. He fought in France and was wounded several times over the years he spent on the Western Front. Pte Alcorn was killed in action 6 September 1918. He was 26 years old.
