Rosengren discusses joining the 39th Battalion, the Port Moresby Garrison, reactions to AIF officers taking charge of the battalion, being part of the machine gun company, Vickers guns, the strain and conditions of the Kokoda Trail, Isurava, Deniki, being cut off with Lt Hugh Dalby, reactions to the Japanese, morale, his physical condition, reactions to the Official History of Isurava, his refusal to go to Japanese/39th reunions and how his attitude has changed, Sanandana, getting sick and being returned to Melbourne,the break-up of the 39th and his move to the 2/8th Battalion, post war physical condition, refusal to ask for benefits, war neruosis, Militia vs AIF, comparison of 39th with 53rd and his impressions of Brigadier Porter.
