Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one flying log book of Pilot Officer Thomsett, containing entries dated between 2 August 1943 and 24 July 1945. The log book records details such as dates and times of flights, aircraft types and numbers, other occupants of the aircraft, and purposes of flights. Some purposes of flights recorded include general flying training, advanced flying training, and service with 4 Communications Unit based in Queensland. This log book also contains training notes and certificates for courses completed.
Pilot Officer Malcolm Lucas Thomsett enlisted to the Royal Australian Air Force on 23 January 1940, after previously serving with the Citizen Military Forces. He trained as a pilot in New South Wales and Victoria in 1943. Pilot Officer Thomsett went on to serve with 4 Communications Unit, based in Queensland. With this unit, he participated in transport of supplies and personnel. Pilot Officer Thomsett was discharged in 27 November 1945.
