Shoulder title : The Duke of Wellington's Regiment (West Riding)
Curved red shoulder title embroidered in white with 'DUKE OF WELLINGTON'S'.
This shoulder title is part of a collection of insignia associated with 2/401314 Corporal James Adrian Harper who served in the Korean War from January 1953 to January 1954. Harper was a section commander with 6 Platoon, B Company, 3 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and was involved with the defence of Hill 355. The Duke of Wellington's Regiment (West Riding) was formed in 1881 and since then battalions from the regiment have served in most land conflicts involving British forces including the Boer War, the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, police operations in Cyprus, Kenya, Hong Kong, Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Kosovo, and the Iraq War. The Batallion successfully defended 'the Hook' in May 1953.
