History / Summary
This shoulder patch is part of a collection of insignia associated with 2/401314 Corporal James Adrian Harper who served in the Korean War from January 1953 to January 1954. Harper was a section commander with 6 Platoon, B Company, 3 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and was involved with the defence of Hill 355. The US Army Service Forces (ASF) was established in 1942. Their wide ranging duties included procurement of supplies, maintenance, construction, food preparation, laundry operations, port and railway operations and signal security. The ASF was dissolved in 1946 after a reorganisation of the War Department.
