Martini-Enfield Mk I Artillery carbine
Description
Martini-Enfield Mk I Artillery Carbine. The left side of the receiver is marked with sold out of service marks as well as with Crown VR over 'ENFIELD 1896 ME .303 ACI'. The right side of the receiver is marked 'ENFIELD' over 'III" over 'I'. The top of the receiver is marked, broad arrow 'NZ 98'. The serial number is at the rear of the receiver. 'H' is stamped on the knox form. The butt has been cut down at the butt plate end - through where the brass butt disc once was - and is roughly engraved with, 'TJ'.
History / Summary
This weapon is a conversion of a Martini-Henry Mk III rifle. The markings indicate that it was used by the New Zealand military.
