In the lead-up to the East Timor Presidential Election, an ADF soldier escorts 26 year old Jose Sarmento, one of Major Alfredo Reinado's Rebels (or Petitioners) at the court in Dili. Sarmento was arrested on charge of escaping from legal custody, being one of 33 prisoners who escaped with Reinado from Dili's main jail on August 30 2006. Under Operation Astute, members of the ADF were tasked to preserve the integrity of the election process and maintain security.
