Portrait of 3543 Private (Pte) Thomas Clyde Grenness, 11th Reinforcements, 8th Battalion, with his brother 2183 Pte George Francis Vernon Grenness, 4th Reinforcements, 21st Battalion, who survived the war. A letter carrier from Harrietville prior to enlistment, Thomas Grenness embarked from Adelaide on HMAT Nestor on 11 October 1915. He was killed in action in France on 26 July 1916. It is not known which man is which in this image.
