Description
Portrait of Kim, a Korean boy, leading a cow on board HMAS Bataan during the Korean War. Kim, who was originally from North Korea, was a runner for Captain (Capt) George Lamm, a United States Army officer commanding a group of South Korean coastal commandos referred to as the Western Wolfpack guerillas. On 19 May 1952 HMAS Bataan, led by Commander Warwick Bracegirdle, and Wolfpack guerillas, led by Capt Lamm participated in Operation Roundup. The story of Kim is documented in the book 'With the Australians in Korea' edited by Norman Bartlett.
