A ditch filled with punji stakes and surrounded by more punji stakes and barbed wire are part of typical perimeter defences employed to protect posts in rural South Vietnam. Judging by the windsox and small, but well maintained terminal building, this was a well supported position and typical of the many posts serviced by Caribous of the RAAF Transport Flight Vietnam (RTFV).
