Cork, Albert Stanley (Stan) (Corporal, 13 Battalion, b. 1895 d. 1954); Turnbull, Winifred (Win) May (b. 1892 d. 1986)
Description
"Great War Memorabilia: Stan Cork and Win Turnbull" arranged by Ken and Gwen Knox. The manuscript is about Corporal Albert Stanley (Stan) Cork of the 13th Battalion and his post-war wife Winifred May Cork (nee Turnbull). After signing up, he contracted mumps and was delayed in joining his unit. He met up with his Battalion in England and joined them on the Western Front. Was wounded at the Battle of Bullecourt and evacuated to hospital. Sent back to France on recovery and was gassed. Returned to Australia in 1919. The manuscript details the war time memorabilia of both Winifred and Stan. It includes postcards, letters and photos. Also added in are historical extracts, photographs, newspaper articles and maps.
