No 117 Mk III Fuze
Description
A Number 117 Mark III artillery impact fuze sectioned by removing a 90 degree longitudinal section (one quarter) to display the internal construction. The fuze is 120 mm long and 60 mm diameter at its widest. It has a 50 mm diameter threaded base to screw into the artillery shell nose cavity. This fuze is all brass construction.

Type example of an Australian Second World War munitions product. The No 117 is a percussion fuze that was used in 18 pound high explosive and smoke shells, 60 pound high explosive shells, and 6 inch howitzer high explosive shells.
