Carl Gustav L14A1 Anti-Armour Weapon
Carl Gustav L14A1 Anti-Armour Weapon. Tubular construction with a conical rear section. Two pistol grips, one with a trigger assembly and has a shoulder butt plate located about the centre of the weapon. A green plastic pad is straped to the left side. It is fitted with a spring monopod that has a cross bar footing and a No 78 MI Mk1 telescopic sight marked Dr Wohler, Kassel 2x17. Painted overall dark green. Firing pin, spring and front half of bolt removed
Medium range anti armour weapon (MRAAW)"Carl Gustav" of the type used by Australian Army during the Vietnam War. It can fire a variety of ammunition including HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank), HE (High Explosive), Illuminating and Smoke rounds. A very accurate weapon and has an effective range of 450m with HEAT rounds to 2300m with illumination ammunition. It fires a spin stabilized round which can defeat armour of 400mm (15.74 inches) at 450m. Served by two personnel, and can be fired from the shoulder or prone.
