A group of P40N Kittyhawks from 80 Squadron, RAAF, prepare for takeoff before a Douglas C47 Dakota from 37 Squadron, RAAF, at at an unidentified airfield. The C47 is believed to be aircraft serial number A65-71, call sign VH-CIN, which flew the body of the late Prime Minister of Australia John Curtin from Canberra to Perth for burial on 6 July 1945 (see 110561 and 110562 for related images). This aircraft was transferred to the AWM in 1980 but is maintained and still flown by the RAAF.
