Security pass badge for C & J Munitions : J G Kitchener
Gold metal security pass lapel badge for the Sydney firm C & J Munitions, showing a Vickers Mark II Special tank with the number '137' impressed on the turret. A blue enamel oval on the centre of the badge reads 'C & J MUNITIONS PRODUCTION'. The reverse has a brooch pin fastening and the manufacturer's details 'ANGUS & COOTE JEWELLERS'.
This security pass was issued to Joseph Godfrey Kitchener by the Sydney munitions firm C & J Munitions during the Second World War.
Kitchener, from Lane Cove in Sydney, had been declared medically unfit for war service. He was assigned to C & J Munitions, where he worked as a carpenter.
This pass is the second that was issued to Kitchener. He was originally given pass number 21. After he had mislaid it he was issued with this one, although he later found the original, which he retained.
