Portrait of 11189 Corporal (Cpl), John Thomas Sheppard of Cairns, Qld, with his daughter Mary Sheppard, before departing for Korea in 1950. Cpl Sheppard served with the 2/15 Battalion during the Second World War (as QX5139), and was awarded the Military Medal in February 1943. He served with 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) in Korea, and was killed in action at Chuam-ni on 15 February 1951.
