Description
A tripod mounted, German 7.92 mm Maschinengewehr 15 (MG15) machine gun, used in the defence of the St Malo airfield in France during the Battle of Britain in 1940. The photo came from a German camera acquired by Corporal John Sheppard, MM, whilst he was serving in the Middle East with the 2/15th Battalion. The weapon has been fitted with a 75 round saddle drum magazine and anti-aircraft ring gun sight.
