Description

Collection relating to the Second World War Service of VX39006 Major John Kevin Lloyd, 2/29th Battalion, Singapore and Burma, 1942-1945. Collection consists of two handwritten diaries, one small and one large, covering the period from 1942 to 1945 while Major Lloyd was a prisoner of war of the Japanese. The diaries detail the capture of the 2/29th Battalion in Singapore and the period of their forced labour on the Thai-Burma railway. A manuscript copy of the diaries, with added photographs and appendices, is also held in the Memorial's collection as MSS1867.
